poly evolver vs prophet 12

Only poly I want more is the CS-80. ;). by EMwhite » Tue Dec 31, 2013 10:24 am, Post 13 posts • Page 1 of 1. thesnow Super Deluxe Wiggler Posts: 1833 Joined: Sat Apr 28, 2012 10:40 pm. I have really wanted to pick up a PE rack for a while now. I do not believe the PEK is capable of vector synthesis. Nice! However in any of the cases you have sort of hybrid synthesizers so definitely a complement for a rig with digital and analogs monos and poly synths. Yeah that's the way to go. by pelican » Thu Nov 28, 2013 7:28 pm, Post Not sure about the P12, like mentioned the you tube demos leave a lot to be desired. In fact you worked on presets for ANdromeda? ;), Hi all, just to let you know I've just posted an ambient demo of the 12-voice DSI Poly Evolver, check it out here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rKAlLvn0WFQ, Hope you enjoy it... wear headphones for maximum effect. however iirc it listens to sysex so something like Remote Zero SL on the side would work. Well my rig right now consists entirely of Analog monos and polys and a Prophet VS, which I think is great. admittedly, I don't use the evolvers as much as my other digital synths. Edit: I see now, you polychained the racks into it, very cool! ... and I must say, it simply sounds massive! I kept the PE and have sold the P08 thinking someday I might get a P12. thanks for all the opinions, lots to consider. the P12 in videos doesn't sound cool enough to spend 3K IMO. The power in it is incredible. I'd get the P12. by digitalganesha » Thu Nov 28, 2013 11:40 pm, Post The keyboard is semi-weighted with velocity and aftertouch, the wood end caps and overall design make for a great, classic look. Spend 30 minutes with each piece and go with your gut. Moderators: Kent, Joe., luketeaford, lisa, Post I had no idea there was a 12 voice option. PEk is an excellent option if you have other poly synths with more voices and mono synths because it is one of a kind, with the effects, sequencer and endless knobs you can create very different sounds that others can´t. Yep, I know that. by GuyaGuy » Wed Jan 01, 2014 3:02 am, Post Would love to try a poly. Last thought, since they are new can you go play test them somewhere? by Tooths » Wed Jan 01, 2014 5:19 pm, Post by Purveyor2 » Wed Jan 01, 2014 2:24 am, Post Hmm... perhaps you could've kept the Mono and polychained to the PEK for 5 voices? Then there's always the Ambika too.. I waited on my Tempest and saved 25%. If you have the MEK you can poly chain a PER (if you can find one). Either way, thanks for sharing. Sure wish the Prophet 12 did poly-chain ... That is awesome! Even a Poly Evolver with 4 standard voices sounds big... but with 12 polychained voices, it starts to approach extreme wall of sound potential. I would definitely go for a Prophet 12..really like the sound and the interface. Using 35 years of experience building synths, Dave Smith has created what he calls his "best synth yet." They were both amazing but the PE got way nastier. ]. Of course that is my taste as far as the overdrive. VS is one of nicest sounding hybrids ever. I have never played a P12 but I had a P08 and a PE. Headphones recommended for stereo … When you use DSI's poly chain feature, do the chained synths automatically react to every knob movement and program change on the master keyboard? its pitfall is lack of any realtime control. by GovernorSilver » Thu Jan 02, 2014 4:20 pm, Powered by phpBB® Forum Software © phpBB Limited. Moderators: Kent, Joe., luketeaford, lisa. I just sold my little desktop mono, which is sort of disappointing, but it was under the strictest condition that the poly that my father owns won't be sold to anyone but me in the future. Poly Evolver - its really awesome and different. They don't turn up very often. So awesome though! Would like to get some hands on time with one, probably at NAMM since no GC in LA area seems to have them. The good thing in my opinion about the DSI stuff is it's new, so one day soonish it will be widely avail used. I don't know how many people rating the PEK here have actually played a VS. If you could only choose 1, which would it be and why: The answer in this question depends on what I have. I can only imagine how thick and monstrous 12 voices of this must sound. I have an MEK and it's awesome. The Poly Evolver Keyboard features a plethora of Dave’s best ideas packed into a monstrously powerful instrument with 4-voice polyphony and a sound like no other. The racks + Poly Evolver audio levels do not have this issue, the levels are consistent across all 3 pieces of hardware. I would love to expand this thing further up to 20 voices, but the racks are getting hard to find... anyone selling? I've been pretty dang happy with my PEK and find more and more to explore with it. Cool... do you know how many racks they made in total? I remember reading in my MEK manual about how the Mono Evolvers have a higher output than the rack units and so there is some difference with the levels when running them in a poly chain... not sure if it's the same issue with a PEK though. I think the PEK is fantastic, but the it is basically a P08 and a PVS in-one. The PEK contains the same digital waveforms as the ProphetVS. Hey there! There have only been a few for sale in the last year. Any music gear discussions that don't fit into one of the other forums. I do this. Mine are 253 and 421. The VS is similar to other synths like Solaris however it is also one of a kind (no wonder why Bowen worked in both synths) And the p 12 has impressed me on the last demo made by Katsunori Ujie, it made me think that any flagship synth in the right hands can make endless possibilities. Which would you? Will let you know when a demo is posted, it should be quite the sonic experience. I read the same thing about the Mono Evolvers having a hotter audio output. Cookies help us deliver our Services. So I'm weighing replacing the VS with one or the other.. the sequencer stuff on the PEK really interests me.. maybe I'd be satisfied keeping the VS and getting a 2nd hand mono evolver desktop. What's the deal with the 12 voice? by thesnow » Thu Nov 28, 2013 6:17 pm, Post Completely agree, it has this alien-like futuristic sound that I haven't heard from other synths... also, the audio quality sounds pristine, so clear and hi-def, it's great. Of course more often than not there are strengths of each that users might prefer one variable important moreso than another, which would make the decision easier. But I do find myself gassing for a PEK or P12, but simply don't have the budget or physical space for either one.. Which would you. Obviously the rest of the synth has many differences.
